My book the outsiders was about a group of kids called greasers who live in a bad neighborhood and are in a gang. They parents died when they where young in a car accident so they older brother is there legal guardian and he is also a greaser. He lives with his brothers soda a high school dropout and his older brother darry who is there guardian and makes most of the money for them. But the main conflict is between the socs and the greasers. One night darry got mad at ponyboy the main character and hit him so he ran away with his friend jonny and they got jumped in the park by some socs and jonny killed one so they had to skip town to not get caught. And they to a small town out in the country and whell they are there a old church caught fire and they go in to save the kids trapped inside and jonny gets hurt and dies in the hospitial. And then the guy who help them escape got shot by the police. But at the end they beat the socs and they promise to stay out of there territory and ponyboy can have a normal life.
The characters are ponyboy, darry ,jonny ,sodapop , two-bit, and darrel they all work together as a gang to stay alive and get money to support there familys but there rivial gang the socs keep jumping them. Most of them have dropped out of school but ponyboy is very smart in school but he doesn’t use his head before doing stuff. Soda is his closest brother who dropped out and works at a gas station. There older brother darry is there legal guardian and has a short temper and is big and strong for his age. As the book goes on ponyboy seems to mature and think things more threw and show how you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
At the end of the book it shows how jonny dieing and killing that guy affects him and it shows how he stops caring because he lost hope after he died. But at there very end he is finally able to move on but it is still hard for him. It also shows how all ponyboys friends do after the death of jonny and how they react to the situtation most of them can barely even live on without there friend and it shows how close they all are even with such tension with the socs because the big fight over the turf was coming up but they ended up winning even thought ponyboy got hurt in it.
The books themes are don’t judge a book by it cover because how ponyboy becomes a hero even thought he is a gang member and how import friends are cause they missed jonny so much after he died.
